Green Office Program
Preton Ltd. introduces a "Green Office Program" to help organizations reduce the the environmental stress caused by printing.
Tel Aviv, Israel – Dec 3rd, 2007 – Preton Ltd. the creator of PretonSaverTM the award-winning print management software announced today the introduction of its new “Green Office Program”. The program will include companies that use PretonSaverTM to reduce the environmental stress caused by printing and are committed to reducing the consumption of non sustainable resources.
It is argued that office printing is the second largest polluter in the West after transportation; the pollution can be attributed namely to the consumption of toner and ink and the consumption of paper. Toner cartridges contain several hazardous and toxic chemicals which when thrown into landfills find their way to the water bed and pollute the underground freshwater reservoirs. In the UK alone, about 75 million empty toner cartridges are thrown into landfills every year.
The consumption of paper is rising as well. It is estimated that the consumption of office paper had doubled from 1997 to 2003 and is expected to double again by 2010. The strong demand for paper accelerates the harvesting of forests and the extermination of wildlife, as well as increasing the volume of waste that ends up in landfills.
PretonSaverTM provides companies with an effective solution for the reduction of the environmental stress created by office printing as well as a reduction of the consumption of non-sustainable resources. The software enables companies to reduce the consumption of toner and ink by up to 50%, which translates to 50% less toner and ink cartridges thrown in to landfills. In addition, PretonSaverTM enables companies to reduce their print volume by an average 10-20%. This reduces the consumption of paper – saving an estimated one tree per year for every 7 employees - reduces electricity usage and the emissions of CO2, O2 and SO2.
