Do you have a valid support contract with Preton ?

Purchasing – Free 14 day trial

We offer you a 14 day free trial on the PretonSaver Home Edition.

At the end of the installation you will get the activation screen,
on this screen please select the Begin Trial option.

Now you have 14 days to use the Preton software free of charge.

Once the trial has ended, if you wish to continue using the PretonSaver software, please purchase a license

Purchasing – Purchase PretonSaver license and support option

There are 3 PretonSaver license options:
  • Annual Subscription – for one computer (renewed annually)
  • Lifetime License – for one computer
  • 3-Pack Lifetime License – for up to three computers (discounted price)

The number of printers that can be connected to the licensed computer is unlimited.

The support contract option:
We offer an upgrades and support contract, highly recommended.
No assistance can be provided without a valid contract.

Purchasing – I have a license, how do I purchase a support contract

To contact a Preton support person you need to have a valid support contract with Preton.

Unfortunately without a contract we cannot provide you with assistance.

Purchasing – I want to buy PretonSaver for an additional computer

The PretonSaver licenses, both the Lifetime License and the Annual Subscription, are for one computer only, no mater how many printers are connected to it.

The Preton Saver license is per computer, each additional computer requires a license of its own, even if all computers are sharing the same printer.

You may want to consider purchasing a 3-Pack Lifetime License for up to three additional computers.

Installation – How to install the PretonSaver on a Windows computer

The installation is simple, you just have to:

  • Download the following version
  • Install the PretonSaver on your computer
  • Activate the PretonSaver or start a 14 day trial

Requirements:

  • An Internet connection.
  • Administrator rights for the computer on which PretonSaver Home is being installed
  • Windows XP (SP2 and up) / Vista / Windows 7 / Windows 8* - either 32 bit or 64 bit

*Win 8 - Metro Applications and IE 10 are not supported

Is it a 32 or 64 bit computer?

Note: If you try to Install a 32 bit version on a 64 bit computer or vise versa, you will get an error message saying that you should use the other version.

Installation - Can I install PretonSaver on a non-Windows computer?

No, we do not have Mac or Linux versions at the moment, they may be released in the future.

For now, just Windows operating systems are supported.

Installation - I have to reinstall the PretonSaver

Please perform the following procedure to reinstall the version:

  • Uninstall the PretonSaver Home Edition program:

    XP: Control Panel >> Add or Remove Programs >> click on: PretonSaver and choose Uninstall.
    Vista/Win7/Win8:    Control Panel >> Programs and Features >> right click on: PretonSaver and choose Uninstall.

  • Delete the installation folder C:\Program Files\Preton
  • Delete Preton related info from your local IsolatedStorage folder
    (if there are more than one folders under the IsolatedStorage, see instructions:IsolatedStorage content deletion)
    XP: C:\Documents and Settings\XXX\Local Settings\Application Data\IsolatedStorage
    Vista/Win7/Win8:    C:\Users\XXX\AppData\Local\IsolatedStorage
    Note:
    1)XXX = User name (as you logged in with), please repeat for all existing users.
    2)some of the folders on this path are "Hidden“ to see them, change the folder’s properties to "show hidden files"
  • Delete the Preton_Ltd folder that is located on the same path as the above IsolatedStorage folder.
  • Reinstall the most updated version using one of the following links:
    Get 32 bit version Get 64 bit version
  • Restart your computer

Installation - if there are more than one folders under the IsolatedStorage

Locate and open the IsolatedStorage according to the instructions in the previous slide.

In case there is more than one folder under the IsolatedStorage ,search their hierarchies for a .dat file in a structure such as: MachineName_WorkgroupORDomain_UserName.dat - delete that folder from the IsolatedStorage.

e.g.
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\IsolatedStorage\fzzf4jfd.v3h\oqc5es0e.idf \Url.3jomhtghybsatpcezy1n0nifpfhlq4ql\Url.3jomhtghybsatpcezy1n0nifpfhlq4ql\Files\MaxLAP_WORKGOUP_max.dat

delete the fzzf4jfd.v3h folder.

(the character combination in your case will be different)

Activation – My license key is not Valid

The license key has the following format: AAAA-BBBB-CCCC-DDDDDDDDDDDD

(with three minus signs and without any space)

Make sure that you didn’t replace: “1” with “I” or: “0” with “O”

To avoid typos, please use “Copy & Paste” and copy the license key string from the email you received.

In case you get a message that the license key exceeded the number of allowed activations,
please go to Reuse a license key

Activation - Number of allowed activations has been exceeded

When trying to activate PretonSaver on your computer with a license key that
is already in use, you will get this error message.

To reuse the license key you will need to use this tool first: Free my License



1. Enter your Email  (the email address you have used when purchased the license)

2. Enter your License key

3. Choose: View License Usage

This will show you all computers that are activated
select a computer to deactivate from the list and choose: Free License Usage

Now you can use the free license to activate another computer.

Activation - I lost my license key

We will be happy to help locate your software serial number for you.

The cost for this service is $4.99 and we require your full name and
the email you have used when you purchased the license.

Activation - Can license be used for both 32 and 64 bit versions?

Yes, PretonSaver Home Edition licenses can be used for both
the 32 bit and the 64 bit versions of PretonSaver Home.

Activation - There is no activation option on the tray icon menu

If there is no activation option, you probably have a valid license already
installed on this computer. The annual license is valid for 365 days.
There can be no overlapping of license keys.

Please wait until the old license key expires, then you should get the
activation option that will enable you to re activate the PretonSaver on
your computer using the new license key.

To check the activation status, please right click on the red P tray icon
near the system clock and choose: About

You will see there how many days elapsed since the last activation.

Activation - I purchased a license but I get trial pop ups

Because of hardware or software changes on your computer, it is now recognized by Preton as new computer. This is why you have been asked to re activate.

To reuse the license key you will need to use this tool first:  Free my License

Activation - Number of allowed activations has been exceeded

When trying to activate PretonSaver on your computer with a license key that
is already in use, you will get this error message.

To reuse the license key you will need to use this tool first: Free my License



1. Enter your Email  (the email address you have used when purchased the license)

2. Enter your License key

3. Choose: View License Usage

This will show you all computers that are activated
select a computer to deactivate from the list and choose: Free License Usage

Activation - I have formatted my hard drive or replaced
the computer how do I use my license on the exchanged computer?

In order to install and activate PretonSaver on an exchanged computer or hard drive you will need to free your license, using this tool:   Free my License



1. Enter your Email  (the email address you have used when purchased the license)

2. Enter your License key

3. Choose: View License Usage

This will show you all computers that are activated
select a computer to deactivate from the list and choose: Free License Usage

Now you can use the free license to activate another computer.

Using the software – Once installed what do I do?

Once you installed the PretonSaver, it will start automatically.

There is no need to launch it, just print a document and see the savings.

If you exit PretonSaver, by right clicking the red P tray icon near the system
clock and choosing Exit, you will need to launch it in order to start it again.

Use the following path to launch the PretonSaver or restart your computer
to launch PretonSaver automatically:

Start > Launch PretonSaver Home edition

Using the software – I can’t find the PretonSaver tray icon

When the PretonSaver is installed, the red P tray icon appears near the system clock,
on the bottom right corner.

If you don't see the tray icon please launch the PretonSaver by using:
"Start" button > Launch PretonSaver Home Edition

If you still don't see it, please look for it in the hidden icons:

- To open the hidden icons choose the arrow ^ (see picture on the left)

- Select the Customize option, choose the PretonClient icon and set it to:
“Show icon and notifications" (see picture on the right)

Using the software – There is no Prompt Before Printing

When you print a document, the PretonSaver print dialog box appears
and enables you to set the level of savings for the current printing job.

If your PretonSaver has been activated you can enable or disable the
dialog box (in the trial option it cannot be disabled):

Right click on the red P tray icon near the system clock and click on the
"Prompt Before Printing" option.

Using the software – How to set the level of savings?

The PretonSaver comes with a default level of savings already set, however you
may change it according to your needs.

  • To adjust your settings anew each time you print configure the Preton dialog
    box (automatically pops up before printing).

  • To configure standard optimized settings other than the default ones,
    right click on the red P tray icon and choose the Setting option (or just double
    click on this tray icon), the following screen will appear: Advanced Settings

    On this screen you can also assign ppp (price per page) values for both mono
    and color pages, to each printer.

Using the software – How do I check if my PretonSaver is working

To check if your PretonSaver is working properly, please perform the following:

  • Restart your computer

  • Print a Word document or a Notepad document

  • The Preton printing dialog box should appear
    (if it doesn’t go to: prompt before printing )

  • Set the level of savings temporarily to maximum Savings (70%)

  • On Preton printing dialog select Print to issue the printing

  • Check the printout, do you see the savings?

Using the software – My PretonSaver isn’t working

When you print a document the Preton print dialog should appear and printout will be with saving.
Please restart your computer, print a document and check if PretonSaver is working properly.

If the print dialog box not appears please verify that it set to pop up:  prompt before printing

1. If Preton still doesn't work,  please check if the Preton Client service is up, please follow those steps:

  • Right click the lower task bar and choose Start Task Manager

  • Enter the Services tab then verify that the PretonClienrService is running (or started)

  • If not started please right click on PretonClienrService and choose Start Service.

  •  Please set also the Startup Type to Automatic if not set.

  • Now please launch the PretonSaver again.

2. If Preton still doesn't work, it may be something on your computer causes the problem,

  • It may be any antivirus program or firewall that cause the connection problem,
    please try to switch it off for a while and then try to lunch the PretonSaver again.

  • If it works now, please add the PretonClient.exe and PretonClientService.exe
    to the exclude list of those antivirus and firewall programs.

3. If the above steps didn’t help, let's perform the following procedure to clear the loading
and reinstall the version

Activation – How do I activate the PretonSaver?

1. Right click on the red P tray icon near the system clock



2. Select the Activate License… option



3. Enter your serial key and press Activate
